Interior Care 101: Keeping Your Cabin Fresh Between Details

A professional interior detail can transform your cabin, but a few simple habits between visits will keep it looking fresh far longer.

Start with a weekly quick clean: a handheld vacuum pass on seats and floor mats takes five minutes and prevents dirt from grinding into fabric or leather fibers, which is what causes premature wear. Keep a microfiber cloth in the glovebox for wiping down the dashboard, console, and door panels — dust and sunscreen residue build up faster than most people expect.

For leather seats, avoid household cleaners and dish soap — they strip the natural oils and accelerate cracking. A dedicated leather conditioner applied every 4 to 6 weeks keeps leather supple and prevents fading from UV exposure. If you have fabric seats, a fabric-safe stain remover on hand for immediate spills prevents them from setting permanently.

Odor control starts with source removal, not air fresheners. Food wrappers, damp gym bags, and spilled drinks are the most common culprits. If odors persist after removing the source, an ozone treatment or enzyme-based odor eliminator (part of our Signature and Concours packages) neutralizes odor at the molecular level rather than masking it.

Sun protection matters more than most drivers realize. UV rays fade and crack dashboards, door panels, and steering wheels over time. Parking in shade or using a windshield sunshade when possible significantly extends interior material life.

Finally, protect high-touch areas. Steering wheels, gear shifters, and door handles accumulate oil and grime faster than any other surface — a quick wipe-down twice a week keeps them looking new and reduces the buildup that eventually requires deeper restoration.
